Rider Profile - Drmsby Middleton

Postby XBCoupeJota » Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:55 am

The following rider profile is provided for Drmsby Middleton our rider for the Laverda Montjuic in the 500cc Period 5 championship.

Drmsby was a late starter with motorbikes, never had a bike as a kid and only started riding in 2005 when he got his licence through Q-Ride. After a few months of road riding he bought a trackbike, did a few trackdays and then a single race meeting at the end of the year, which went well. In 2006 he bought a Superbike and decided to have a proper go at racing.

Drmsby had some podiums and finished 3rd in his club Superbike Championship in his first year of racing, pretty impressive for someone so new to racing. The following year he really stepped up his preparation and went for it, winning some races and with them the single-round QLD club Championship, and outright C Grader of the Year.

In 2008 Drmsby bought an Yamaha R6, and although he missed the start of the season he won every race entered at Morgan Park, and came second in the Championship despite missing the earlier races. Coupled together with his fine championship position he went about destroying Morgan Park and setting the outright Supersport lap record of (1:05.635). As with most records they only last until the next best bit of kit comes along and this happened the following season and was broken by Liam Daniels, national Superstock rider.

Drmsby entered a couple of National Superstock Cup Rounds, the first was at QLD Raceway, where he was 4th in practice sessions and right on the pace, but had gearbox trouble throughout Qualifying and Racing, and ended up back in 13th (out of 27).

In 2009 James Balmain of DC Racing offered Drmsby a ride with his Privateer team riding a 1995 ex-AMA Factory Suzuki GSXR750 and a Bimota SB6 1100. The season started great with pre season testing and then a string of pole positions and race wins in the State Championship, before Drmsby broke his Collarbone mid season in a crash in a non championship Superbike race. This put an end to his season as he required a couple of operations, the second of which he had a few months back.

The whole team is very excited to welcome Drmsby and is looking forward to 2011. Drmsby will be co-piloting the Laverda Spaceframe with Blair at the Wakefield 1Hr event.
